INTRODUCING THE 2016 QUILT - "LEAP Y'AIRE"!

Quilt measures 64" x 71"

This year is the LAST year for the Airedale Rescue Quilting Bee. It's had a long, long run of 17 years making unique quilts and bonus wall hangings since 1999 in order to raise money for National Airedale Rescue.  So let's everyone rally round and make this the BEST fundraising year yet!

***Please note this major change - the final drawing will be held in the ATCA Hospitality Room at the Headquarters Hotel, which is the Hyatt House in Plymouth Meeting, PA on Thursday evening, October 6, 2016.  Lori Taylor will be there with the actual quilt and the bonus wall hangings between the hours of 6 and 8 PM.  This is the only venue where you can get your quilt tickets in person.  There will be NO quilt display at MCKC weekend.***

Each year the Quilting Bee tries to find something different for its theme, and this year with 2016 being a Leap Year, it was a no brainer - "Leaping" Airedales celebrating Leap Year!  For additional interest, Sharon DeBoer, a long-arm quilter by trade, suggested using a large Airedale in the top right corner looking/leaping down at all the other quilt blocks.  All the block makers had ideas for their leaping Airedale taken from the antics of their own Airedales.

When we were discussing possible layouts for the 2016 Quilt, Sharon thought about the quilts that she had seen from Janet Fogg (www.janetfoggquilts.com).  She is a fiber artist who includes large drawings of animals in her quilt design.  Sharon passed this information on to Patty Eisenbraun, who had volunteered to help with this year's blocks.  Patty responded with two drawings as possible layouts and we voted on them.  The layout below, with the Airedale leaping onto the quilt from the corner block, had the most votes.

As in previous years, there will be 4 unique bonus wall hangings offered as well and they will be previewed in the Quilt Blog as it progresses through the next 60 days.

The donation structure is set up as follows: for each $5 donation, you will receive one entry for the Main Quilt; for each $25 donation increment, you will receive 5 entries for the Main Quilt and 1 bonus quilt entry. For example, if you donate $50, you receive 10 Main Quilt entries and 2 bonus quilt entries and so on.

Please note that the BLOG Early 'Dale
drawings are independent of the Main Quilt drawing on October 6th. You are still eligible to win the Main Quilt and/or one of the bonus wall hangings.

ONLINE donations will be accepted until 8 PM EDT on Friday, September 30, 2016. After that date, you may get your quilt tickets IN PERSON on Thursday, October 6th between 6 PM and 8 PM at the ATCA Hospitality Room at the Headquarters Hotel, which is the Hyatt House in Plymouth Meeting, PA.  Lori Taylor will be present with the Quilt Display. ***Please note that the drawing for the Main Quilt and Bonus Wall Hangings will be held in the Hospitality Room on Thursday, October 6, 2016 before the end of the Hospitality Hours.***
